ABS vs PP Body Kit Parts: Which Material Is Right for Your Car?

Look at the specs of any VTEN part and you'll see one of two materials: ABS or PP (polypropylene). Both are automotive-grade plastics used by OEMs themselves, but they behave differently — and we deliberately choose one or the other depending on the job the part has to do.

ABS: rigid and sharp

ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) is a rigid, dimensionally stable plastic. It holds a crisp edge and a deep gloss finish, which is why we use it for parts where shape definition matters most: rear and roof spoilers, canards and trim pieces. ABS parts feel solid, resist warping in heat, and keep their lines over years of use.

PP: flexible and impact-resistant

PP (polypropylene) is the material most modern car bumpers are made from — it flexes on impact instead of cracking. That's exactly what you want low on the car, where speed bumps, kerbs and stone strikes are a fact of life. It's why our front lips and splitters, side skirts and most rear diffusers are PP: a scrape that would shatter a cheap fibreglass lip usually just polishes out of a PP one.

What about fibreglass and carbon?

Fibreglass (FRP) is light and cheap to tool but brittle — fine for show cars, less forgiving on daily drivers. Real carbon fibre is superb but costs several times more. For road use, ABS and PP hit the sweet spot of durability, finish and price, which is why they're our standard materials.

The short answer

You don't actually have to choose — we've already done it per part. Every VTEN product page lists its material in the specs table, and each part uses the material best suited to where it sits on the car. Whatever the material, every part is designed in-house for an exact OEM fit and covered by our 1-year warranty.
